FITT Activities

FITT programs and services reach all individuals and businesses involved in international trade including employers, practitioners, educators and students. The activities undertaken by FITT in support of international trade include the following:

  • Identification of international trade knowledge and competency gaps that most commonly impeded the success of business

  • Development of international trade curriculum, standards, and a certification system for trade practitioners

  • Responding to specific industries to build the skills required to become more competitive in international trade

FITT Products and Services

  • Professional Certification: FITT is the only organization in Canada to award a professional designation for international trade practitioners - the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP*) designation. The FITT CITP* is gaining international recognition and is backed by the leading membership based organization of its kind in the world. FITT is the only association of its kind to develop a community of practice for those engaged in international trade and to also provide them with a comprehensive suite of membership benefits.   • FITTskills: A comprehensive performance-related training program consisting of eight (8) international business courses. FITT is currently partnered with over 60 colleges, universities, and other training organizations that deliver, in the classroom or online, the FITTskills program or have had their programs accredited by FITT as meeting standards as required for the CITP* designation. Read more about the FITTskills program here

  • Going Global Workshop Series: These six, three-hour workshops cover the basics of international trade and are delivered by various government and non-governmental organizations. FITT can also coordinate the delivery of these workshops, in whole or individually for your organization or as a topic for your international business conference.   • EnterpriseFITT: FITT customizes international trade programs individually tailored to meet the unique requirements of companies that are involved in, or planning to be involved in international trade, as well as trade and industry associations, government departments and agencies concern with international trade. To discuss customized international programs, please contact Scott Ferris, Director, Business Development. 

  • Membership: FITT offers a membership program designed specifically for international trade professionals with a full suite of benefits to enhance your international business activities.
