Throughout your career, you have gained significant international trade experience. Not only does this benefit your career, it can also help you achieve the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation—acknowledged as the highest mark of professionalism in international trade. The World Trade Centers Association—active in almost 100 countries—has recognized the CITP as the Standard of Excellence for their clients and employees worldwide. Prestigious, progressive, and professional, the CITP is the only designation of its kind and is earned by meeting competency standards as set by FITT, the world’s leading international trade training and professional certification authority.
Why become a CITP?
The CITP designation will set you apart—whether you’re aspiring to or already working in international trade. The CITP provides a progressive foundation of knowledge, professional development and networking opportunities, and is a prestigious distinction that is recognized among the elite of the international trade community. CITPs contribute directly to their own international trade competitiveness and that of their respective organizations.
Prior experience and learning do count in the CITP designation process. Participants can obtain exemptions from FITTskills course requirements through FITT’s Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) process, which provides credit for previous work experience and/or education. The professional path to the CITP offers you two options:
Portfolio Assessment
FITT’s Portfolio Assessment provides global business professionals with an opportunity to use their work experience and/or education to meet the competency requirements for the CITP designation.
A Portfolio submitted to FITT is a record of your learning; gained from work experience, personal development and/or education as it relates to international trade competencies. The Portfolio is developed by you to support your claim of competence and request for credit(s) toward the CITP designation. Click here to download the Portfolio Development Guide.
