The Standards Council of Canada is encouraging Canadian young professionals (aged mid 20’s-30’s) at the start, or near the beginning, of their careers to become more involved in the work of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) by participating in the 2010 workshop competition. The two young professionals that are selected to represent Canada will be sponsored to attend the IEC Annual General meeting in Seattle, WA in October 2010.
The benefits of this competition to young professionals, include:
- Networking: the opportunity to exchange ideas with individuals from all over the globe (over one thousand international delegates attend the IEC AGM); and a platform that will be heard by IEC management.
- Knowledge: experience and increased awareness of IECʼs work and standardization strategies; as well as the potential for greater involvement in industry-specific standards development.
- Influence and Career Development: a role in the future of technology transfer; cultivation of a long-term involvement in national and international standards forums; and the chance to help shape the future of global standardization and conformity assessment.
Submissions to the 2010 Workshop Competition will be accepted on this site from April 1st to 30th. To nominate yourself or a young professional that you think would benefit from this experience visit the “Participate” section of the SCC web site.
