August 6, 2009
Ottawa, ON — LambtonCollege and FITT are pleased to announce a partnership that will see FITTskills, Canada’s leading international trade program, being offered by two educational partners in China beginning in Fall 2009. LambtonCollege, a leader in establishing and administering overseas campuses, intends to use the FITTskills publications to further strengthen its Business Administration – International Business program.
“For the first several years, FITT will be used at LambtonCollege’s two largest overseas partners – JiangnanUniversity – LambtonCollege and JilinUniversity – LambtonCollege with the intention of expanding it to other partners in the future,” says Chris Slade, Dean International Education with Lambton. “FITT textbooks and the CITP will play an integral role in adding to our international programs both from a student success and academic quality perspective,” adds Slade. Currently, the International Business program is one of Lambton’s fastest growing overseas programs with an annual growth rate of approximately 25%. JilinUniversity-LambtonCollege, located in the city of Changchun is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. JiangnanUniversity-LambtonCollege, located in the city of Wuxi has been operating since 2001.
In Canada, the mark of excellence in international trade is the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation, exclusively conferred by FITT. While it officially recognizes the level of professional competency of international trade professionals, the standards it embodies are bringing a new level of accountability as well as an increased recognition of the skills and knowledge required for success in global markets. “FITT has been working aggressively to pursue international opportunities to expand the recognition of our highest designation,” says Caroline Tompkins, President of FITT. “Lambton’s delivery of FITTskills in China represents a significant addition to our international presence and will benefit all FITT members and CITPs,” adds Tompkins. FITT is also partnered with the World Trade Centre Association and already offers its programs in the U.S., Northern Ireland, Jordan and Singapore.
Both FITT and the LambtonCollege share a concrete interest in building the international trade capacity of individuals and businesses. This partnership supports this interest by ensuring individuals who meet the rigorous requirements of the CITP are recognized for their specialized skills and knowledge.
LambtonCollege has over 5,000 students studying a variety of LambtonCollege programs in Saudi Arabia, India and China. The College is a higher education institution recognized locally, nationally and globally for excellence in education, applied research, technological innovation and sustainability leadership. LambtonCollege continues to seek suitable overseas partners in other countries.
FITT is Canada’s international trade training and professional certification body—and the leading membership-based organization of its kind in the world. FITT sets the standards and designs the certification and accreditation programs leading to the professional designation, Certified International Trade Professional (CITP).
