Meet Our CITPs - H

Tai Wah Hang, CITP

Mr. Hang works at the Bank of Nova Scotia, Ontario International Trade Services as the Letter of Credit Officer. He has many years of experience in international trade in local and international bank. He joined the Bank of Nova Scotia in 1996. Prior to his immigration to Canada in 1995, Mr. Hang has been working in various departments in Hang Seng Bank Limited in Hong Kong for many years. He is an Associate of Chartered Institute of Bankers in U.K. (ACIB) and a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS). He also has a degree of Bachelor of Accounting Science from the University of Calgary and earned his CITP in December, 2004.


James Harris, CITP

Mr. Harris has more than 20 years of experience in international trade. Mr. Harris is currently Director of International Sales for Pacific Smoked Salmon Inc., a company in which he holds an equity share. His responsibilities include preparing Pacific Salmon to meet export sales and building an international customer base.

For many years, Mr. Harris was a logistician in the Canadian Forces where he worked in such areas as warehousing, inventory management, purchasing, shipping and administration. While on peacekeeping duty in the Golan Heights, and later as a logistician aboard various naval vessels, he gained experience purchasing services, spare parts and food from the local economies of many countries.

Mr. Harris, who retired from the Navy after 22 years of service, completed Canadian Forces Logistic Trade Training levels 3 to 6, as well as courses in business administration and economics at the University of Victoria. He also completed the Canadian Forces senior leadership course. He received his CITP in 2004.


Sandie Heirwegh, CITP

The Entrepreneurial Edge Inc. specializes in the design, implementation and evaluation of enterprise development/self-employment training programs on a provincial, national and international scale. In addition, Ms. Heirwegh facilitates workshops, seminars and conference presentations on the various facets of entrepreneurship, international economic growth through entrepreneurship and international trade. Topics include Tips and Treasures for Success; Customer Impact: The Key to Staying In Business; Business Planning: Putting the Pieces Together; Market Research: If You Build It, Will They Come?, to name a few. Additionally, she hosts foreign delegations that are interested in learning about small business operations and support programs in Ontario. Peter A. Hernandez, CITP

At Maple Leaf Foods, Peter oversees customer accounts throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. His product portfolio includes frozen French fries, processed meats, bakery, canned/frozen vegetables - both retail and foodservice. Prior to this, at Ronald A. Chisholm Ltd., Peter was responsible for cheese trading/exports to Mexico.

Peter was born in Santiago, Chile and is a graduate of Brock University, with a B.A. in Business Administration, as well as Sheridan College’s Post-Graduate International Business Co-op Diploma Program. Peter welcomes networking opportunities with fellow CITPs.


Joshua Hodgson, CITP

Joshua Hodgson serves as Trade Commissioner for the Renewable and Nuclear Energy and Electricity sectors as well as working on the Global Value Chains file at the Ontario Regional Office of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada in Toronto, Ontario.

Mr. Hodgson previously worked in Trinidad and Tobago where he served as Senior Trade Commissioner and was responsible for the oil and gas sector; his territory there also included Guyana and Suriname. Prior to that, he served in Vancouver covering the software and digital media sectors as well as China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. His first posting aborad was to the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (Taiwan). He also worked on temporary assignments in Tel Aviv, Israel and San Francisco, USA. Mr. Hodgson has a Master of Science (Economics) in European Studies from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts from The Royal Military College of Canada. He is fluent in English and French and also speaks Mandarin. He became a Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) in 2003.


Susie Hoeller, CITP / FIBP

Susie L. Hoeller is an international business lawyer with 34 years of experience representing companies in the high technology, defense, software, medical, finance, food, consumer products, and retailing industries. On a pro bono basis, she has represented immigrants, refugees, and victims of human trafficking for twenty years. Ms. Hoeller currently practices at the Hoeller Law Firm in Bentonville, Arkansas. (www.hoellerlaw.com) She has also practiced law in Dallas, Chicago, Portland (ME), and was a law clerk in Montreal. Ms. Hoeller is licensed to practice law in Texas, Arkansas, Illinois, and Maine. Susie received her law degree from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. cum laude in history and government from Colby College. She received her primary and secondary education in Montreal and was born in Chicago.   


Dieter Hollweck, CITP

Mr. Hollweck, President of Tricam, has participated as a board member of several Canadian and international trade organizations, as well as a founding member of FITT. Tricam, established in 1977, specializes in developing, financing and implementing international educational and technology projects. Tricam has been active in over 40 international markets, establishing distribution for Beam Vacuum Systems, and several other Canadian consumer and technical products/services.


James Huget, CITP

James is currently Manager, Regional Operations with the Markets and Industry Services Branch at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and teaches international business part-time at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario.  He has over 10 years of international market development experience in the public and private sectors; in both importing and exporting.  He previously owned a successful sporting goods company importing product from the US and Europe.  James holds an economics degree from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside and an Advanced Diploma in International Business from Red River College.  He received his CITP designation in 2008.


Kate Hughes, CITP

Kate Hughes holds the position of Conference and Export Logistics Coordinator with the East Coast Music Association (ECMA) located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The ECMAs is a regional collaboration of people in the music industry of Atlantic Canada. The ECMA fosters, develops, promotes and celebrates its music locally, nationally and internationally. Ms. Hughes provides east coast artists with the international education and exporting skills required of a touring artist.

Ms. Hughes’ previous work experience includes international consulting and event planning for The Quaich Inc., a health promotion and marketing company, and teaching English on the JET Programme in Shiga-ken, Japan.

Ms. Hughes holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Dalhousie University and a Master of Music degree in opera studies from the New England Conservatory of Music (Boston, MA). She received her CITP designation in 2007.

Lindsay Hull, CITP

Ms. Lindsay Hull is employed in the International Marketing Department at International Road Dynamics Inc. (IRD), located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  In this position, Ms. Hull oversees projects with CIDA-Inc., creates international marketing documents, and assists Regional Managers with training sessions and international bid preparation. Previous to this position, Ms. Hull held a marketing term position with Saskatchewan Trade & Export Partnership (STEP) and was selected to represent our province on the 2003 Junior Team Canada trade mission to Mexico. She is fluent in Spanish and holds a Certificate in Travel and Tourism, a Diploma in International Business, and is currently pursuing her BA in Political Economy (through distance education). She earned her CITP designation from FITT in September 2005.
