David Pastirik is Professor of International Business at Niagara College and Co-ordinator of the International Business Programs. In addition he is co-ordinator for the partnership with Shanghai Commercial School in China. He is also a faculty advisor for the student group Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship and is adjunct lecturer on steelmaking at McMaster University. Mr. Pastirik has over twenty seven years of specialty steel industry experience in stainless, tool, engineering, and mining steels. He has worked in production, quality control, technical services, sales, and marketing with Atlas Specialty Steels and Integris Metals. He is a graduate of McMaster University’s School of Engineering and the MBA Program of Niagara University, Lewiston, New York. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and ASM International.
Julius Patkai is a Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) with over 25 years of experience in agriculture, processing and manufacturing for the private sector. He is Principal of his own International Trade & Business consulting firm specializing in assisting his clients with International Trade and Business activities such as: Focus on the entrepreneurial aspects of doing business - being a mentor; Business plans Marketing plans and Market Entry Strategy; Frozen Product Procurement and Brokerage of Specialty Product; Trade Mission Support and Matchmaking Services; Processing Design and Plant Layout; Troubleshoot Production Lines; Food Safety Protocol and Traceability; Costing and Packaging Solution.

Virginia Paul is the Head of the Trade Policy Unit at the OECS Secretariat in Saint Lucia. The mission of this Unit which was established in 2003 is to assist Member States to formulate and implement trade policies and negotiate trade rules/arrangements, by providing officials and the business community with technical assistance, information, advocacy and training. Virginia has been working in the area of trade policy development for the past eighteen years.
Prior to joining the OECS Secretariat in 1998, She served as Head of The Trade and Industry Section in the Ministry of Trade and Industry with the Government of Saint Lucia, where her responsibilities included formulating and implementing trade and industrial policy, and managing the execution of Saint Lucia’s commitments under regional and international trade agreements. She also worked as a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Saint Lucia.
The Honourable Pierre Pettigrew was first elected to Parliament in 1996 and went on to hold several senior portfolios including Health, Intergovernmental Affairs, Human Resources Development and International Trade.
A former business consultant, Pierre Pettigrew was vice-president of Samson Bélair Deloitte & Touche International (Montreal) from 1985 to 1995 where he acted as a business consultant to companies with dealings in international markets.
He served as Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada from 1981 to 1984, as executive assistant to the Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party from 1978 to 1981, and as director of the Political Committee, NATO Assembly, in Brussels, from 1976 to 1978.
Mr. Pettigrew holds a bachelor of arts in philosophy from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and a masters of philosophy in International Relations from Balliol College, Oxford University, England.
As Vice President Marketing, Candace Phelps is responsible for the promotion of Saskatchewan as a tourist destination to markets across Canada and around the world. Working with traditional print advertising, visitor services, media publicity and e-marketing, Candace and her team work to ensure that the Saskatchewan experience is available to key target markets. Previously Candace worked for Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP), as the Senior Director Market Intelligence and Information Technology and was co-chair of Trade Team Saskatchewan.
Mr. Pinette has been involved with the consumption and planting seed business for the last 21 years. He started in this business from the ground and worked with a handful of different companies where he gained experience in the trade. At this point he is establishing his own trading company in the stated field. Mr. Pinette received his CITP designation on May 21, 2003.

Mr. Podolski is the Director of Global Trade Group, a company dealing with international partners in Russia, France, and Sweden. Global Trade Group has marketed Canadian ice wines in Russia and Canadian construction equipment in Sweden. Mr. Podolski worked in 1999-2001 as a Market Research analyst at the International Trade Network Center in Toronto. He is a multilingual professional with a cross-cultural perspective and can speak French, English, Russian and functional Spanish. Mr. Podolski has also been promoting FITTskills abroad. In fact, in 2002 he coordinated the cooperation between FITT and INPREDKADRY from Russia in order to teach FITTskills in Moscow. Mr. Podolski holds a Master of Arts Degree from York University (Toronto) and his CITP from FITT.

Mr. Poloz leads EDC’s Financing Group, which delivers a wide range of lending, structured finance and equity programs. He is also responsible for EDC Economics and the International Trade Intelligence Department. Prior to joining EDC in 1999, Mr. Poloz was with Montreal-based BCA Research for five years, and with the Bank of Canada in Ottawa for 14 years. He has been a visiting scholar at the IMF in Washington, and at the Economic Planning Agency in Tokyo. He served as president of the Ottawa Economics Association from 2002 to 2004. Mr. Poloz holds a Ph.D and M.A. in economics from the University of Western Ontario, and a B.A. (Honours) in economics from Queen’s University. He is also a graduate of Columbia University’s Senior Executive Program.
