Mr. Sadler is the International Business Coordinator for International Road Dynamics (IRD) located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. IRD is a world leader in highway traffic management products and systems, operating internationally in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) industry. IRD has over 28 years of experience in Weigh-in-Motion (WIM), toll road and traffic data collection systems with an installed base in over 50 countries and subsidiary or affiliated companies in India, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, China and the US. Neil is responsible for coordinating the activities of head office resources to meet the needs of IRD’s sales force and distributors. He is also the Regional Manager for Africa. Prior to joining IRD Neil held domestic marketing and sales positions with several different companies, including 14 years with Nortel.
Mr. Salcedo has more than 12 years of experience in international marketing & sales. Having worked and done business in more than 10 countries, he has developed skills to make things happen in scenarios where different cultures and markets are set together. His background includes negotiations with high level business people in companies like Procter & Gamble; S.C. Johnson; Kodak; The Coca Cola Co; Kellogg’s; Wal-Mart; 7-Eleven; Johnson & Johnson and Bimbo among many others. He is currently in charge of the commercial side of Vitromex, one of the most important manufacturers of ceramic tiles in Latin America located in the city of Saltillo, Mexico. Mr. Jean Mario Sanchez holds a BA in Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in International Business from Sheridan College. He has over 5 years experience in supply-chain and international commerce. Over the past year Jean Mario has worked at Research In Motion as an Partner Operations Manager. He manages the order fulfillment operations and BlackBerry launches for the majority of carriers in Latin America. Commencing in January 2007 he will start a new role as a Demand Control Manager where his main responsibility will be to manage sales forecasting for 12 of the largest carriers throughout Latin American. Jean Mario was born in Quebec, Canada but lived a large part of his life in Bogotá, Colombia. He is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.
Mr. Santos has been employed with Thomson Technology in Langley, British Columbia since 1996. He is involved in the sale and export of generator control panels and electrical switchgear to countries in Latin America and South East Asia. An electrical engineer by profession, he has been involved in international sales of technical products and services through most of his career in Canada, India, and the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Santos received his CITP designation in March 2003.
Gordon Scheel is founder and principal of Scheel Consulting and Research, where he conducts international market research and offers export consultancy services for both private companies and government organizations. Scheel Consulting and Research has specifically partnered with the Municipality of York Region’s Export Development Program in developing a unique government-funded program focusing on export promotion. Scheel Consulting and Research delivers qualified York Region companies with an “Opportunities and Challenges Assessment Report” that highlight strategic opportunities for their product or services in targeted international markets.
Mr. Scheel has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Carleton University, and a Post Graduate Certification in International Business from Seneca College. In addition, he has participated in numerous seminars in regards to conducting effective international market research and exporting of goods and services from Canada. Gordon has also lived, worked and studied in Asia for over three years.
Mr. Scott is the Chairman of the World Freight Alliance, a network of international logistics companies from over 30 countries. Previously he was the President of PBB Global Logistics, an internationally recognized logistics leader. In April 2001, Mr. Scott was made a Honourary Professor of Guanxi University in China. He is the first Canadian to receive this honour. Away from work he is actively involved with Scouts Canada where he is currently the Chief Commissioner for Canada and Chair of the Board of Governors. Mr. Scott is also the Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors of Niagara College, he sits on the Board of the Niagara Economic Development Corp. and he is the Honourary Lieutenant-Colonel of the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment.
Ms. Secco-Dufault has over 25 years of extensive international experience in several countries and in diversified areas such as sales, public relations, finance, and project management. For the past 11 years, she has been working with Canada Post, first with the international consulting branch and more recently with the International Relations team. As Business Development Manager, she manages bilateral negotiations with partner postal administrations worldwide and is responsible for CRM for the South Asia and the Pacific and the Carribean regions. Ms. Secco-Dufault is fluent in 4 languages and has a good knowledge of two others. She has a thorough knowledge of cultural and business practices of Europe and North, Central and South America.
The Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, through six area teams, delivers the province’s economic/social development programs and services in the North. Area teams also provide investment attraction and export marketing assistance by highlighting the North’s competitive advantages.
As a Business & Industry Advisor, I have promoted Northern Ontario and its economic goals and priorities through various projects and activities. My involvement has included leading MNDM Trade & Investment Marketing participation at international events in the U.S. & Chile, Incoming/Outgoing Trade Missions and Familiarization tours. Trade Mission and FAM tour participants have been from the U.K., Austria, Belgium, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Finland and others. I have also worked on the design and production of GO North Marketing Materials for use in our international marketing campaign.
Mr. Shaw is a professional international business development consultant. Gaining expertise through more than 20 years of global Telecom/IT strategic business development, marketing and process throughout Canada, Middle East, Asia and in the UK. He has a well-deserved reputation for generating process efficiencies, creative marketing and providing innovative Customer Relations Management (CRM) with his industry leading awards.
In addition, Mr. Shaw compliments his consulting with illustration, cartoons and caricatures that have been published in many publications and adorn many walls. As a professional international business leader and artist, Mr. Shaw always enjoys assisting clients in their business or personal needs, for growth and success.
As president and founding director of Northstar Trade Finance Inc., Mr. Shepherd is very involved with the promotion and support of small- and medium-sized exporters in Canada. Northstar brings together the export strengths of the federal government through Export Development Canada and Western Economic Diversification, the provincial government of British Columbia through BC Trade, and the private sector through Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank of Canada, HSBC Bank Canada, National Bank of Canada and CDPQ Capital International Inc. Mr. Shepherd is a past president and member of the BC Executive Committee of the Canadian Chapter of Financial Executives International and a member of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters.
Since 2003 Floyd has been a full-time Professor of International Business at St. Clair College and part-time instructor at the UofWindsor. Previous to this appointment he led a third generation Ontario based automotive and furniture fabricating business to ISO certification and to new markets in the US and Mexico. Floyd assisted SME enter foreign markets as a Sr Trade Consultant with the Province of Ontario leading trade missions and trade show events in Europe and the US. From 1988-91 he served as Ontario’s Representative in Los Angeles CA handling both trade and investment responsibilities. Floyd has an MBA (International Relations), BA (Hon) from the UWO as well as business and economic development certificates from York University and University of Waterloo.
Rajeev is a CITP, graduate of the International Business post-graduate program at Sheridan College (Canada), holds an Economic (Honours) degree (Delhi University, India, assessed equivalent by University of Toronto), skills trained in e-commerce & convergence and advances Java programming. He is also FITT certified in ‘International Trade Finance´ and ‘International Trade Logistics´. He has more than 15 years of work experience in India, Singapore and Canada. His work experience includes International Freight Forwarding (Canada), International Business Development (India), financial services (India) and International Trade Logistics (Canada). He has completed a co-op assignment at Maple Leaf Foods International, as Logistics-Coordinator, in the agri-food division, worked with Ronald A. Chisholm Ltd. as Traffic-Coordinator, meat and dairy division (moving refrigerated containers to APEC countries) and currently works for UPS as Account Executive.
Mr. Shawn Skinner was born and raised in St. John’s. Mr. Skinner was elected as a Progressive Conservative Member of the House of Assembly in the 2003 General Election. Prior to entering provincial politics, Shawn served as a Municipal Councilor (Ward ll) in the city of St. John’s.
Mr. Skinner was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier on July 5, 2006. On January 19, 2007, he was appointed Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment and Minister responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Housing. On October 30, 2001, Mr. Skinner was appointed Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, Minister Responsible for Persons with Disabilities, Minister Responsible for the Labour Relations Agency and Minister Responsible for the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation. On October 31, 2008, Mr. Skinner was appointed Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development and Minister Responsible for the Rural Secretariat.
Hendrik Slegtenhorst is the Chief Administrative Officer of Bowen Island Municipality, one of the constituent municipalities of the Metro Vancouver Regional District. He was previously the chief administrative officer of the Town of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the key link in the international trade corridor between Atlantic Canada and the United States. He is also a principal of Falstaff Enterprises, a Canadian partnership founded in Vancouver in 1995 that delivers management services and export marketing of cultural goods and services.
He is a former director of the Vancouver Museum. His senior appointments in post-secondary adult education included that of registrar of Alberta’s Athabasca University and of director of administration and planning at York University’s Atkinson College. His corporate work as a developmental and training specialist in compensation, human resources, and information technology was at the international head offices of Alcan Aluminium in Montréal and Turbo Resources in Calgary.
Also a published poet, he was awarded a 2004 Canada Council grant for professional writers. He holds a degree in English from Carleton University, received his CITP in 2003, and received HSBC Bank Canada’s 2003 FITTskills Award of Excellence.
Worked and lived in Yugoslavia until 1991, Spain in 1992 and in Canada since 1992. Extensively traveled on business through Europe, South America, Far East and Middle East, experienced various multicultural business approaches and concepts and created extensive network of clients and distributors.
Held various international sales management and executive positions with Yugometal-Belgrade, Metallia-Madrid, Concord Confections Inc.-Toronto and lately with Tootsie Roll Worldwide-Chicago. Currently Senior Vice President International Sales & Outsourcing for Concord Confections Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc.) and Assistant Director, International for Tootsie Roll Worldwide.
Specialized in international confectionery trade while working for Concord Confections Inc. since 1993. Established Concord’s presence in over 40 countries worldwide and reintroduced famous bubble gum brand, Dubble Bubble to world markets. After acquisition of Concord Confections by Tootsie Roll Industries in 2004 continued with presence in international markets with enlarged product portfolio. Stationed in Concord, Ontario and occasionally commutes to Tootsie Roll’s headquarters in Chicago, IL.
Braden Burry Expiditing (BBE) is a northern logistics company with its head office in Yellowknife, NWT. Servicing clients such as BHP Billiton, DeBeers, Devon Canada, Frontier Drilling and Schlumberger, BBE handles the logistics supply chain from anywhere in the world to remote locations in the north. As Expiditing Coordinator, I manage contracts in the Mackenzie Delta, such as Devon Canada’s Beaufort Sea 2006 drilling operation and Frontier Drillings Kulluk rig refurbishment. My job is to coordinate shipments from anywhere in the world to remote northern locations and back again. From small parts to railcars of fuel, I am able to utilize my FITT training in most aspects of my job.
Ms. Strong currently works as an Oil Trader for sales and procurement with Bunge Canada. Bunge International Corp. is a manufacturer of edible oils. Kim has been working in this industry for ten years in both domestic and export markets. Prior to Bunge Canada Kim gained invaluable business experience by working in the head office of Dylex handling multiple functions for the XX XY concept store which had imported European fashions. Ms. Strong trained as a Sales & Marketing specialist at Sheridan College prior to obtaining her CITP. Her studies also include Risk Management at the University of Guelph and Spanish at the University of Ryerson.
Mr. Sukhai has Over ten years experience in sales/consulting and management; over six years experience in marketing and planning; and with institutions such as Vendtor Group, Bell Canada, CIBC and STES.

Neil Swain is a veteran Foreign Service officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. Originally from Quebec, he has been on two posting and holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Yonsei University in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and received a BA in Political Science from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. He has been with the Department for over nine years and has worked as a trade commissioner and investment officer.
