Paths to CITP

CITP* - Certified International Trade Professional

Welcome to the world’s leading professional designation for global business professionals.

Prestigious, progressive, and professional, the ClTP* is earned by meeting competency standards as set by FITT, Canada’s international trade training and professional certification authority.

To achieve the CITP* designation, candidates must meet the following requirements:

These requirements can be met in several ways—find the path that’s right for you!

  1. Academic Path for New Students / New Career
Complete the eight FITTskills courses, or equivalent, with any FITT educational partner to get started!  There, you’ll learn first-hand from seasoned international trade professionals and will develop the knowledge required for success in today’s competitive global markets. You can also use FITTskills Online to learn at your own pace from anywhere in the world. Please click here to find out more.

  2. Professional Path – for International Trade Graduates / Professionals

Prior experience and learning do count in the CITP* designation process. Professionals and graduates can obtain exemptions from FITTskills courses through FITT’s Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) process, which provides credit for previous international trade work and/or education. 3. Executive Path – for Highly Experienced Applicants

Highly experienced professionals (10+ years) who have clearly achieved success in the field of international trade can apply for their designation directly, through the CITP* Executive Path. To find out if you qualify, or to apply as an executive CITP*, please click here.

  4. SME Accelerated Accreditation – for FITTskills/Accredited Course Instructors
