CITP Executive Path

The Executive Path to the CITP* targets highly experienced professionals (10+ years) who have clearly achieved success in the field of international trade.

In order to qualify for the CITP* under the Executive Path, an applicant must provide evidence of leadership and/or management in the practical or policy areas of international trade and/or prove oversight experience associated with an organization’s international trade activity. A minimum of ten (10) years of such experience is required.

Executive Path CITP* applications are subject to approval by FITT’s Certification and Accreditation Committee (CAC).

 Apply    

Applicant submits to FITT (membership@fitt.ca) electronic copies of:

  1. A two-page cover letter demonstrating the candidate’s understanding of how their work experience relates to the CITP Competencies, and attesting to the accuracy of the information provided.
  2. A comprehensive CV.
  3. Two letters of endorsement/recommendation from CITPs*. Please review the Reference Policy for CITP Executive Path Candidates.
  4. A completed copy of the Executive CITP Application Form.

 Review 

The CAC reviews the applicant’s cover letter, CV and endorsement/recommendation letters to determine approval/denial/or whether more information is required.

 Approval 

Upon approval by the CAC, the individual will sign a document attesting their commitment to:

  1. Adhering to the CITP Standards of Ethical Conduct
  2. Agreeing to meet annual professional development requirements
  3. Paying annual CITP* dues; and to  
  4. Be an ambassador of FITT and the CITP*. This requirement involves:
    • Use of the CITP* on business cards, email signatures, correspondence, by-lines, etc...as appropriate
    • Encouraging and supporting, through time and/or financially, the pursuit of the CITP* designation by employees
    • Use of "CITP*" or "CITP* Candidate" preferred in job opportunity announcements (as relevant)
    • Supporting employee attendance at FITT national and regional events (e.g.: conferences, seminars, etc)
    • Highlighting the value of the designation whenever possible
