FITT Educational Awards Program

FITT presents four Educational Awards annually to students who have shown success in one or all of the FITTskills courses. Three of the awards are academic and the fourth award, introduced in 2006, is an achievement award. This year’s award winners will be honoured with a formal presentation of their awards on June 7, 2011 at the Awards Reception held during the FITT National Conference in Gatineau, QC.

The four awards are:

  1. Student of the Year
  2. International Marketing Plan 
  3. International Business Plan  
  4. FITT Achievement Award

 

Student of the Year

This is awarded to a student who has attained the highest overall grade point average after having completed all 8 FITTskills courses, the last of which would have been completed during the specific calendar year. The student must have attended a FITT delivery partner institution. This award is presented by FITT’s strategic partner, Export Development Canada (EDC).

Who is eligible?

  • This award is open to students attending an educational partner institution that delivers the FITTskills program and whose students write all 8 of the FITTskills national examinations. 
  • The award recipient is determined by FITT based on having the highest overall grade point average for a specific year. 
  • In case of tie, the award will be granted to the individual who is either a CITP or member of FITT. If neither are members of FITT the individual with the highest mark in International Trade Management will be selected.

This year’s Student of the Year Award winner will be announced on March 15, 2011.

 

International Marketing Plan

This is awarded to the student who has received the highest grade for submission of a completed marketing plan for the FITTskills course International Marketing during the specific calendar year, combined with the highest GPA. This award is presented by FITT’s strategic partner, Scotiabank.

Who is eligible?

  • This award is open to students attending a FITT educational partner institution who is either a delivery partner or whose agreement includes the marking of international marketing plans as a national examination for the FITTskills course – International Marketing. 
  • The award recipient is determined by FITT based on receiving the highest mark of all marketing plans received. 
  • If the project selected is completed by partners – both students will share the award. 
  • In case of tie, the projects will be based on the highest GPA.

This year’s International Marketing Plan Award winner will be announced on March 15, 2011.

 

International Business Plan

This is awarded to the student(s) who has received the highest grade for submission of a completed business plan for the FITTskills course International Trade Management during the specific calendar year, combined with the highest GPA. Presenting partner to be determined.

Who is eligible?

  • This award is open to students attending a FITT educational partner institution who is either a delivery partner or whose agreement includes the marking of business plans as a national examination for the FITTskills course – International Trade Management. 
  • The award recipient is determined by FITT based on receiving the highest mark of all marketing plans received. 
  • If project selected is completed by partners – both will share the award. 
  • In case of tie, the projects will be based on the highest GPA. 

This year’s International Business Plan Award winner will be announced on March 15, 2011.

 

FITT Achievement Award

This is awarded to the student as selected by the awards committee for a particular calendar year. Students are nominated, either by themselves or a peer, and are required to show a combination of community involvement and academic success. Who is eligible?

  • This award is open to full-time students attending a FITT educational partner institution. 
  • Students are nominated and must complete a submission package to be eligible. 
  • Submissions are reviewed by FITT staff for eligibility with a final decision being made by a committee of Certified International Trade Professionals (CITP).

This year’s FITT Achievement Award winner will be announced on March 31, 2011.



Definitions

  • Calendar Year: January - December 
  • Educational Partner: an educational institution that has entered into a formal agreement with FITT either as a delivery partner or an accredited partner. Accredited partner students must be registered in a FITT accredited course or program in order to qualify for the FITT Achievement Award.
