Human Resources: A Vital Driver of Canadian International Trade Capacity and Capability
With the support of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC), we performed a pre-assessment of the current human resource challenges facing Canadian businesses engaged in international trade. The purpose of this pre-assessment was to determine if there was a need to undertake a comprehensive human resource study of international trade, as well as to:
- define the international sector,
- define the labour force engaged in international trade,
- identify the trends that are impacting international trade, and
- determine gaps in human resource-related knowledge and determine the scope of future research needs.
This pre-assessment was the first of its kind in Canada—and as far as we know in the world—and we’ve since begun our full Sector Study.
Access the findings from the pre-assessment now, and pre-register to receive the full Sector Study report scheduled for release at the end of March, 2013.
The Certified International Trade Competency Profile reflects the skills and knowledge individuals need to obtain the CITP designation. This profile was developed by international business practitioners representing all regions of Canada. It incorporates the wide variety of specialized knowledge and skills CITPs use in the many different roles and functions they assume within companies around the world.
For Business: Use the CITP Competency Profile to save time and money when you’re developing career planning options and job descriptions. You can also use the Profile when you’re interviewing prospective employees, evaluating your workplace training programs, or conducting performance reviews.
For Individuals: Use the CITP competencies to compare your level of international business skills and knowledge with that of top global trade professionals around the world. This enables you to ensure you have the range of competencies businesses want and need to compete internationally.
