International Business Credentials
FITT offers three international business credentials based on the global trade competencies acquired through our FITTskills program. Our credentials are proof of your level of knowledge and expertise in global trade and they can help to set you apart in competitive world markets.
FITT Certificate in International Trade
Currently held by more than 4,587 individuals
The FITT Certificate in International Trade credential is presented to individuals who’ve successfully completed any four FITTskills courses or equivalency thereof.
FITT Diploma in International Trade
Currently held by more than 2,937 individuals
The FITT Diploma in International Trade credential is presented to individuals who’ve successfully completed all eight FITTskills courses or equivalency thereof. For more information on FITT’s credential programs, please email email@example.com.
Certified International Trade Professional Designation
Currently held by more than 448 individuals
The Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation can be applied for by individuals who’ve earned their FITTskills Diploma, have achieved FITT’s practical work experience requirement of at least one full year, have endorsed the CITP Standards of Ethical Conduct, and who’ve committed to ongoing professional development in the discipline of international business. Professionals with ten or more years of global trade experience are also eligible to apply for the designation through FITT’s Executive Path.
When you become a CITP designation holder, you have proof that you’ve achieved the core competencies essential to international business through skills and knowledge acquisition and industry experience. You also have proof of your affiliation with the only organization with an international business program and professional designation endorsed by the World Trade Centers Association and the Canadian government.
The CITP designation promotes the advancement of international business professionals working in a wide variety of roles and organizations. This designation is an indication of highly developed competencies and experience within international trade.

Each of the eight FITTskills courses has an accompanying assessment; either a multiple choice exam or a project. The courses can be taken either online or at one of our partner institutions. Students who take FITTskills courses online directly through FITT always take exam assessments. The projects are an option with all our educational partners for three of the eight courses: International Trade Research, International Marketing, and International Trade Management. Please consult your FITT student advisor to learn more about your educational institution’s agreement with FITT.
If you’ve taken all 8 FITTskills courses then you’re exempt from writing the Professional Examination.
If you’re pursuing the CITP designation and have achieved all eight educational credits through transferring of credits from a FITT Accredited Partner, you’ll be required to successfully complete the Professional Examination or complete two assessments, as applicable, before qualifying for the FITT Diploma in International Trade.
If you’ve achieved six or fewer credits through transferring of credits from a FITT Accredited Partner, you’ll need to earn your additional credits through FITTskills Online, through one of our Delivery or Accredited educational partners, or through the PLAR process. You may still be required to successfully complete the Professional Examination or complete two assessments, as applicable, to achieve your FITT Diploma in International Trade.
The Professional Examination is a closed-book, three-hour assessment involving a case study and essay-answer questions. There’s no mark assigned, simply a pass or fail grade. The FITTskills International Trade Management eBook is provided to help you prepare for the Examination.
